DEFINITIONS

  • Buddhist: Buddhism is a religion of Eastern and Central Asia, growing out of the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, that suffering is inherent in life and that one can be liberated from it by cultivating wisdom, virtue, and concentration. “Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship,” Buddha.

  • Consecration: To make Holy, to declare sacred, dedicated to a sacred purpose.

  • Contribution: A financial part played by a person in bringing about a result or helping something to advance.

  • Doctrine: A principle or group of principles that are taught by the religion of Awe.

  • Funeral: This is a ceremony connected with the final disposition of human remains. This is a time to remember them and celebrate their mortal life. It is a time to send them off to their spiritual life.

  • Lay Minister: The Lay Minister is granted specific powers and authority for a period of time or task.

  • Marriage & Matrimony: The legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship. A commonly accepted and encompassing definition of marriage is “a formal union and social legal contract between two individuals that unites their lives legally, economically, and emotionally.”

  • Mobile Divine: Is a way to reach members that would suffer a major inconvenience traveling to the administrative office. 

  • Monotheism: The doctrine or belief that there is only one God.

  • New Thought: This religion teaches the ability to channel positivity. Thoughts will lead to success. Henry Ford one said, “whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.”

  • Pastor: The Church Pastors duties include conducting formal and informal worship services. The Pastor oversees the spiritual health of the Church. Pastors provide care and counseling to members. The Pastor is an ordained, licensed minister of the Church.

  • Religious Syncretism: Religious Syncretism exhibits the blending of two or more religious belief systems into a new system. 

  • Statement of Belief: The core outline of what is the church’s fundamental beliefs.
